How to measure
- Head circumference: around the middle of the forehead, above the ears and over the fullest part of the back of the head.
The tape should lie snugly against the head without pressing.
Material: Linen, but can also be made from wool. It can be colored, though it is typically white.
Description: A close-fitting coif, practical in the heat of summer against sunstroke, but it was also worn under a hat as well as on its own. In the second half of the 15th century it appears less and less often.
